B.Ed.
Currently in India, Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is a two year duration undergraduate degree course which is a mandatory qualification for becoming a teacher at primary, secondary and senior secondary levels. Candidates belonging to any stream (Science, Commerce, Humanities) can pursue B.Ed. from a NCTE recognized institute. S.D.P. College of teacher education affiliated under Gauhati University and recognized by N.C.T.E. is a premier institute for B.Ed. learning in the region of Assam.
Seat capacity:
Currently S.D.P. College of teacher education, Tihu has the permission for a total seat capacity of 100 in one batch.
Eligibility Criteria:
For getting admission into the college, aspirants must complete graduation in any stream with minimum 50% aggregate.

After qualifying in the common entrance test candidates have to apply in the S.D.P. college manually after which merit list will be prepared based on candidates rank in the entrance test.
Standard reservation policy is applicable as in the constitution for educational institute.
Mode of study:
In S.D.P. college of teacher education B.Ed. can only be pursued as a full-time, regular trainee.

What are the opportunities after B.Ed.?
After successful completion of B.Ed. course, candidates can become teachers of primary, secondary and senior secondary level classes.
Candidates who particularly wish to apply for jobs in government schools after completing B.Ed, need to appear for Teacher Eligibility Tests (TETs) conducted at central and state levels. Two major options for TETs for the students of Assam include:
- CTET – Central Teacher Eligibility Test
- ATET- AssaM Teacher Eligibility Test
However, other than the job of teaching, candidates can also explore some other job profiles after completing B.Ed such as: Counselor, Educational Administrator, Educational Researcher, Private Tutor, Online Tutor, and Freelance Trainer.
D.El.Ed.
D.El.Ed.
D.El.Ed is a Diploma course in Elementary Education. It is a 2-year full-time diploma course to train teachers for the primary level and can be done with classroom training or distance learning. It is a 4-semester course to prepare students to work in primary/ upper primary schools in different states of the country. The design of the course is such that it includes practical training and internships along with classroom training. It includes principles of child development, education practice, and the role of the teacher in grooming the students.
Eligibility for D.El.Ed in Assam
